Herman Charles Ward: Obituary/June 2014
On June 5th, 2014, Herman Charles Ward was called home by the Lord. Herman, a disabled military Veteran was a loving and providing father, soul mate and Man of God. He was born in San Francisco, California September 23rd, 1960 to a United States Army Soldier Cleveland Ward and a beautiful, faithful mother, Frances Elizabeth Ward. While in high school, Herman served as a community leader in student council in which he was Class President, theater, writing and Boy Scouts of America. He later joined the military and honorably served as a Military Policeman in the U.S. Army. Following his Army service, Herman surpassed numerous obstacles and started his family, instilling the principles of Christianity, education, and community involvement. Herman, who considered himself a true “Washingtonian” was an avid supporter of the UW Huskies, Seattle Seahawks, Mariners and Super Sonics. One of his greatest moments of 2014 was the Seattle Seahawks winning their first NFL Super Bowl championship. Herman was immensely proud of his children’s success in high school/college, professional careers, Scouts of America, Varsity athletics, and also his daughters’ attending University of Washington. Upon his passing, Herman was a member of Disabled American Veterans (DAV), American Legion, AARP, as well as a donor to Sight Life and the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services. Herman is survived by his soul mate and lifetime partner of 25 years Dori Ann Robinson, his daughters Brittany Frances Ward, Kristina Marie Ward, & Tiffany Carolyn-Marie Hamilton, his sons Christopher Hamilton & Charles Ward, his siblings Cleveland Ward Jr., Calvin Ward, Keita Ward & Mary Ward, his beloved grandchildren Janiya Policarpio & Carmichael Policarpio, as well as Kiara Ward, Christopher Ward, & Carter Ward, his Aunts Mattie Ward & Gloria Ward, mother in-law Bonnie Erickson and numerous extended family members. Herman always taught his family to not be limited by circumstances and to keep the Faith. His humor and love for literature brought healing and love to the world. Herman was also able to share the gift of life and sight by becoming a vital organ donor. He was a man of his Word and like his mother Frances, manifested the phrase “Bon Marche” (the Good Deal). Through his good works, writing, and family, the legacy of Herman Charles Ward will forever live on!
