Herman Lawrence Hille's Obituary
Herman Lawrence Hille Born December 12, 1923 on the family farm in Hand County, South Dakota; died March 25, 2008 in Tacoma, Washington. His wife of 54 years, Alice Mae Saville Hille, preceded him March of 2001. Herman served 24 years as a medic in the U.S. Air Force, including France during WWII, Korea during the Korean war and in Viet Nam, retiring as Master-Sgt. He had a second career with the U.S. Postal service for 20 years. He excelled in sports, hunting and fishing and crossword puzzles. But his passions were his family and writing. Quick-witted and with a wonderful humor, he was an accredited poet, both in the United States and worldwide and was frequently published during the last 10 years. Above all, he was a Christian father and husband, respected and loved by family and friends. We will miss you. Herman is survived by his sister, Violet Larish (Anthony), daughters Sharon Kaiser-Jones (Tim Jones) and Donna Pruitt and son Loren Hille, grandchildren: Damon Kaiser, Loren Merritt (Nikki), Lanny Merritt (Tonya), Mario Mesa (Isabel), Cody Hille and Lindsay Good; and 9 great-grandchildren. Services were held March 28, 2008 at Mountain View Memorial Park with full military honors. Interment will be at Tahoma National Cemetery.
