"99 Years Young"
Bud Anderson had a big heart and everyone that knew him was touched by his kind nature. He passed away in his home March 20, 2012. He was born to Herman and Agnes Anderson on June 3, 1912 in Tacoma, Washington. He graduated from Stadium High School, Pacific Lutheran (College) University, and received an undergraduate and law school degree from the University of Washington. After college, he served in the U.S. Army. A classic WWII love story, Bud sent letters from where he was stationed in India to his father who shared them with the employees at Washington Hardware Store. Vivian Peterson, one such employee, was particularly touched by the letters she read and the man who wrote them. Bud and Vivian married in 1947 and enjoyed 65 wonderful years together. Bud will be fondly remembered for his unwavering devotion to his wife and family, and of course for his life-long passion for the game of golf. He is survived by his wife Vivian, one daughter, Gretchen (Brent Pilip), two grandchildren, Amy Brooke (Matt Brooke) and Patrick Pilip and two great-grandchildren, Pearl and Cooper Brooke. Special blessings and thanks go to his caregivers Josephine and Peter. Bud will be remembered in a multitude of ways by his family, friends, and community, but maybe none so distinctive as his unmistakable and infectious laugh (we all loved). A celebration of life reception will be held in Bud's honor Sunday, April 1st at 5 pm at the Tacoma Country and Golf Club. Remembrances can be made in honor of Herman "Bud" Anderson to Pacific Lutheran University and Friends of American Lake Veterans' Golf Course.
