Herbert Peters' Obituary
Herbert Russell (Russ) Peters born August 13, 1926 in Tacoma, Washington, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014. Russ is preceded in death by his wife, Dixie (Robinson) Peters; sister, Shirley Dunaway and grandson, Nathen Merritt. He is survived by his children, Susan (and Wayne) Durham, JoAnne Peters, James Peters, Richard (and Margaret) Robinson, Mark Robinson and R. Gary (and Aliza) Robinson, 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Russ was a lifelong member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union where he served as Business Agent and Business Manager and a member of the Musicians Union since 1942, when he began his first band. Russ was an accomplished and well-known trumpet player in the Puget Sound area. He was a founding father in the formation of Union Bank. Russ served during WWII in the Navy as a Signalman PO2.
Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014, 2 pm, at Unity Church of Olympia, 1335 Fern St SW, Olympia, WA. He will be laid to rest at Tahoma National Cemetery, in Kent, WA.
