I met Henry just once, while producing a documentary on former prisoners of the Japanese for KPLU radio in the spring of 1995. His story -- told with the dual emotions of sorrow and love -- stayed with me as few others have done. When I saw his obituary notice in the TNT, I immediately recognized his face...even after all these years and the brief nature of our meeting.
Henry's is a story of courage and forgiveness that inspires the very best in human beings. It was my honor to present it, both in the original documentary and in the small tribute story we broadcast Thursday March 27.
At this time of sorrow, I hope you can find comfort in the knowledge that Henry helped to make this a better world.##imported-begin##Steve Krueger##imported-end##
Henry, Both Judy and I wish you well on your next journey. Maria's boys are waiting for you. With your love and wisdom, all will be well.
As always, Judy and I are just a phone call away if Aiko has any need. Time is but a blink of an eye. With that blink, others of your circle of friends and love ones will be with you again.
For several years, we were neighbors. During those years, we had the privilege of knowing you and your family as if we were all family. Thank you Henry for being you.##imported-begin##Ed & Judy Allen##imported-end##

Please know that Henry and you and your family are in our prayers.
He was a fine soldier and a great Finance Corps Noncommissioned Officer, and will always be remembered by me as a good friend.
Love,
