Helena Marie Schweikart's Obituary
Helena was born June 14, 1921 to Amy and Felix Junge in Glenview, Illinois. She passed away May 3, 2005 in Puyallup, WA.Helena grew up in Glenview, Illinois and graduated from Bryn Athyn High School, a church school in PA. She attended 1 year of college at the Bryn Athyn College before transferring to Ravenswood Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, IL, where she received a degree as a Registered Nurse in 1944.Helena served in the Army Nurse Corp. as a 1st Lieutenant for several years. She married H. Cline Schweikart on January 20, 1951 in Douglas, Arizona. In Arizona, Helena was a member of the RebekahÂ's.They had 5 children in Arizona before relocating to Puyallup, WA in 1966.Helena worked for Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup. In 1976 she went to work for the Tacoma Lutheran Home in an effort to improve quality nursing for the elderly. During this time she served as president of the Washington State Nurses Association Geriatric Group. Helena retired in 1986, and Cline and Helena moved to the Gig Harbor area. They moved back to Puyallup in 1990 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Helena enjoyed reading and knitting afghans for the family.Helena was preceded in death by her daughter Janna, wife of Tom Dudley, in January 2005, and her grandson Sean Dudley in 2004.Helena is survived by her loving husband Cline, sons Craig (Nancy) of Tacoma, Grant (Nina) of Puyallup, Daric (Kris) of Bellevue and Kirk (Madeleine) of Federal Way, son-in-law Tom of Moses Lake, 8 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, and many others who called her Grandma S, and by her two brothers Rev. Robert Junge of Bryn Athyn, PA and Ralph Junge of San Diego, CA, and numerous nieces and nephews.A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 21, 2005 at the Factoria Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 4200 124th Ave SE, Bellevue, WA.In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Education Trust Fund for Ayla Dudley at Key Bank.
