Helen Jean Sharp's Obituary
Helen “Jean” Sharp passed away peacefully Dec. 12, 2013 at the Franciscan Hospice House in Tacoma, WA.
Jean was born to Claude Adam Farner and Gladys “Peggy” Ruddle May 31, 1923 in Holt, Missouri.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Russell J. Sharp, son Kevin Sharp, brother David Farner and sister Mariana Fisher.
Jean is survived by son Dennis Sharp (Kathleen), daughters, Elaine Wyatt (Jim), Peggy Clark (Chris), daughter-in-law Robyn Sharp, grandchildren: David, Daniel, Christopher Wyatt, Aubre Olsen, Kelsey Rowley, and Olivia Sharp. Also, 7 great grandchildren, sister Frances Arnold and brother Charles Farner, plus numerous nephews and nieces.
Jean and her husband owned and operated “Sharps Grocery” in Grandview, WA for approximately 5 years after WWII. They then moved to Tacoma where they resided in the same home for 58 years. Jean worked at a local grocery store owned by Bill and Margaret Command (Bill’s Low Cost Grocery) until Al Lively bought the store then Jean continued to work at the Lively Market until her retirement.
Jean’s family was the center of her life. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, sewing, quilting, taking care of her hummingbirds, and was active in the Calvary Baptist Church in Tacoma.
Jean was a wonderful mother, wife (65 years), friend and neighbor. She was much loved and will be terribly missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Jean’s life will be held Friday, December 20th 11:00 am at the Calvary Baptist Church, 6511 “C” St, Tacoma,WA.
