Helen Marie Middleton's Obituary
Our beloved mother passed at age 95. Helen Marie (Argue) Middleton was born in Tacoma, WA to Anna Watrous Argue and Dr. Hiram S. Argue. She graduated in 1940 from Helen Bush High School in Seattle. She attended College of Puget Sound (CPS) where she was proud to pledge Kappa Sigma Theta Sorority.
Helen had vivid memories of her childhood spent on Steilacoom Lake at their summer home. She loved swimming, tennis, skiing, ice skating and horseback riding.
In 1949 she married Naylor B. Middleton. Together they loved traveling, playing bridge and spending time with their family and friends at their beach cabin on the south shore of Hood Canal. They were members of the Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club. Helen was also an active member of the Tacoma Junior League and worked at their Second Closet Rummage Store for several years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marijane Flinn, and her husband of 53 years, Naylor.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Sally James (Chris) of Bremerton, son, Jim Middleton of Tacoma, and two grandsons, Matthews James and Brian James, both of Seattle.
At her request, there will be no service.
