Helen Jean Brady's Obituary
Helen Jean Brady
Helen Jean was born Aug. 7, 1914 in Tacoma, WA. For 90 years she lived on N. 29th St., and was blessed to peacefully pass in the home where she grew up, fell in love with her Irish sailor Pete, and raised her children Peter and Kathleen. The first time Pete surprised her with a stolen kiss, her heart was his. It was like "fireworks on the Fourth of July" she would often share. She said goodbye to her fianc , and instead married Pete on March 26, 1945, and began a joyous life adventure which ended temporarily in 1990 and resumed in Heaven April 10, Good Friday, 2009. Together again are Helen Jean and the love of her life, Pete, who called her "Smoogie." Helen will be missed by her son Peter, daughter Kathleen and her husband Rick, grandson Chad and his wife Cindy, who is expecting Helen's great-grandson in June, grandson Brady and his wife Margarita, and many nieces and nephews. Helen's best friend of 92 years, Sigrid Sowell, lunched with coupons and played Skip-bo with her every Friday, and was reminiscing with Kathleen and Kristi about the trip to Sun Valley when Helen left us. There is no question that Helen Jean had it her way, steadfastly remaining in her treasured home, renewing her driver's license at 94 years, and relishing her own independent spirit, which was an inspiration to us all. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Mulitcare Hospice, Dr. Allison Odenthal, and special angels Dianna Taylor, Kathy Gaeth, and Michelle Wood. Donations in her honor may be sent to Multicare Hospice or Mary Bridge Orthopedic Children's Hospital. Helen was a 60-year member of the Martha Webb Wilson Orthopedic Guild. A memorial service for Helen will be celebrated Saturday, April 18, 2009 at 2:00pm in the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
