Helen Hoppa's Obituary
Helen Hoppa 99, of Lakewood died February 17, 2019. Born in Stevens Point, Wisconsin on June 7, 1919, she was the daughter of the late John and Martha Wisniewski.
She was raised in Stevens Point. Prior to her marriage she worked at River Pines Sanitarium; a cabinet shop and made flies at a fly factory. On November 3, 1945, Helen married Albert L. Hoppa. They had four children: Albert James who passed away around 18 months of age, Mary Hoppa (Eddi Baines) of Mukilteo; Robert Hoppa of Corvalis, Montana and Patricia Hoppa of Tacoma.
Helen left Stevens Point when her husband joined the Army. She traveled and lived in Illinois; Nancy, France; Waynesville, Missouri and finally settling in Lakewood, Washington in 1962.
Helen was an avid gardener who liked to propagate plants. Her lush garden always had a variety of vegetation with bright flowers and colorful foliage. Her family enjoyed her home cooked meals, especially her perigees and other Polish foods. Helen loved the holidays as this was an opportunity for all of the family to spend time together.
She enjoyed drawing; painting and crocheting. Her family continues to display her works of art. One could always catch her in the evening doing her Word Search and watching Wheel of Fortune; Jeopardy and Murder She Wrote.
Helen’s great loves were her St Leo Community and her Dominican family. Her most special love was for her family. She loved playing games and reading to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Besides her children, she is survived by her grandchildren: Adiah Hoppa Baines; Aaron Hoppa Baines and Dwayne Baines and her great grandchildren: Avery, Bethany, Dominic, Kyton, Taya-jayne and Braelynn-june Helen.
Funeral Mass will be March 29, 2019 at 12:10 at St Leo Church in Tacoma. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helens name to:
