Helen B. Vogt's Obituary
Helen Baum Vogt was born in Longfield, Connecticut, January 25th, 1918, and passed away peacefully in Tacoma, Washington, April 14, 2006. Her immediate family consisted of her parents, Louise and Charles Baum, her brother Charles, and her husband John E. Vogt, all of whom preceded her in passing. Early in her life the family moved to Knightstown, Indiana, where she graduated from Knightstown High School with the class of 1936. Although she was a resident of Lakewood for almost fifty years, she had been living at the Tacoma Lutheran Home since January of 2005. Helen enjoyed an active life of golfing, bridge, and traveling with her husband John. She was a prolific and accomplished painter and left a legacy of paintings in various media, including oil, watercolor, acrylic and ink-resist. Her subjects and style ranged from still-life to landscape to abstract. She was a long-time member of Lakewood Artists.She was a forty-year member of The Little Church on the Prairie in Lakewood where she continued to worship as recently as the Sunday before her passing. A service will be held for Helen at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 22, 2006 in the sanctuary at Little Church on the Prairie, 6310 Motor Ave. SW, in Lakewood.
