Hazel Louise (Cleary) Kornegay
Hazel Louise Kornegay (Cleary) Hazel was born May 31, 1922 in Estevan, Saskatchewan, Canada and passed away on August 8, 2011 at the age of 89. Hazel worked as head cook at Fern Hill Elementary and retired as secretary for the Food Service Department of the Tacoma School District after 17 years. She also volunteered at Tacoma General Hospital. Hazel was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, now known as The Bridge. Hazel enjoyed being at home with family and spending time in her kitchen and her garden, traveling with her husband and her many years of playing Pinochle with good friends. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Corwin, and her sister Viola Lund. Hazel is survived by her daughters Terri (John) Tucker and Brenda (Dave) Robbins, grandchildren Cory (Dianna) Kerr, Crystal (Jim) Franklin, Tia and Kelly Robbins and great-grandchildren Madison, Cooper, and Chloe Franklin and Hannah and Heidi Kerr, her sister Dorothy (Tuffy) Nighswonger and her special friend, Ray Lindstrom. Hazel passed away at her residence, King's Manor Assisted Living Facility and we would like to thank the staff at King's Manor for the compassionate care they gave her in her final days. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or "The Bridge". Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to 9:00 pm Friday, August 12, 2011 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2011 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel.
