Hazel E. Nelson's Obituary
Hazel was born in Tacoma, WA on October 9, 1917 and passed away on January 20, 2005. She lived her 87 years here in Tacoma and attended Lincoln High School. She worked in womenÂ's retail in Tacoma and Lakewood for many years. Hazel belonged to the ElkÂ's Club #174 and was a member of the Central Lutheran Church. She also served as a board member of AARP. Hazel enjoyed bowling in the 1940Â's & 50Â's. She also loved to do tole painting. Hazel was preceded in death by both her parents, sister Alice Funkhouser, brother Roy Brittain, grandson Kevin Nelson, son-in-law Frank Medford, first husband Herbert Nelson and second husband Mike LaVelle.Survivors include; son Dick Nelson (Sally), Daughter Judy Medford, grandson Michael Medford (Leslie), granddaughter Robyn Rodriguez (Rick) and 6 great grandchildren.Family wants to thank Dr. James A. Wilson for all his special care of Hazel. At HazelÂ's request no services will be held at this time. There will be a celebration of HazelÂ's life at a later date, to be announced.
