Hazel Askren's Obituary
Hazel Askren, 95 went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 23rd, 2016 . She spent most of
Her life reading, traveling to most states and countries of the world. She was a member of the
First Presbyterian Church since 1948. Her main interest in the church was to give Bible Studies
too many different age groups from young children to senior citizens which included giving
messages in several different churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years Hugh Askren and daughter Jone
Sigovich and her parents Riley and Loretta Jones, Philip Heerwald (son in law), her brother
Gary Jones and Sister Helen Stalcup. She is survived by son David Hugh Askren, daughter
Marybeth Heerwald and daughter Deborah Sue Lomheim and Scott Lomheim (son in law),
Sister Kay DeRossett, Gerald DeRossett, besides 5 grandchildren, 6 great
Grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
Hazel graduated from University of Puget Sound, Pacific Lutheran University. She taught at
Washington Elementary School in Tacoma until retirement. Hazel became a bookkeeper in
Hugh Askren Insurance after retirement.
She lived a very blessed life.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Tacoma.
