Hattie Mae McCurty's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Hattie Mae (Ash) McCurty, who departed this life on November 19, 2025. She was a beautiful, loving, and kindhearted mother who always showed love to everyone she came in contact with; she will be deeply missed.
She was born in Montgomery, Alabama to the proud parents of the late Lucille and Leon Ash on February 24, 1942, into a loving Christian family. At an early age, she confessed to Christ and joined Ebenezer A.M.E. Zion Church. She was a product of the Montgomery Public School System where she attended Daisy Lawrence Elementary School, Carver Jr. High, and graduated from Carver Sr. High.
She met and married Owen McCurty Sr. (deceased), and they spent over 20 years traveling the world together during Owen’s Army career. She and her husband later joined and were faithful members of St. John Church in Tacoma, Washington. They were married for over 50 years and to this union seven children were born; four sons Anthony (Lisa) McCurty of Moses Lake, Washington, Owen McCurty Jr of St. Cloud, Florida, Gary (Monica) McCurty of Spokane, Washington, Michael McCurty of Irving, Texas, three daughters, Linda (Jimmy) Williams of Tacoma, Washington, Glenda (Rick) McRavin of Abingdon, Maryland, Annette Cummings of Federal Way, Washington. She also had a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Six siblings preceded her in death: Leon (Greta/deceased) Ash Jr. of San Diego, CA, Dorothy (Allison/deceased) Anthony of Orlando, FL, Vivian (Frank) Bailey, Betty (John) Holmes, Deloris (John T/deceased) Miles, and Sarah (John/deceased) Lowery, all from Montgomery, AL. She has one survivng sister: Algerita Dabney also of Montgomery, AL.
A special thanks to Dina and Inna Grib at Six Star Elder Care and their dedicated team of medical professionals who provided peace, compassion and respect.
