Harvard C. Stith's Obituary
Harvard C. Stith, born December 25, 1926, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 2, 2006. While attending the University of Washington, Harv met Donna Merritt, who would become his wife of 50 years.Harv served in the United States Army in Japan following World War II, rebuilding diplomatic relationships. After his discharge, he worked for the Office of Military Government, Intelligence Division, in Germany. Friendships he made there lasted a lifetime.Harv was active in local politics and with his community. He cherished the time he spent as a docent at The Nature Center at Snake Lake. He loved children and animals and nature: a wonderful combination he found at Snake Lake.Harv was an avid rock hound who shared this passion with his family. He loved working with tools and could fix absolutely anything. Any body of water, with the slightest rumor of fish, was a place he would enthusiastically cast his line.Harv is survived by his wife, Donna; his daughter, Sandy; his brother, Bart (Pauline); his two nieces, Barbara and Karla; and, his brother-in-law Robert.Viewing will be from 12:00 to 9:00 PM on Sunday, July 9, 2006 at Mountain View Funeral Home. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 10, 2006 in the Mountain View Garden Chapel. Interment will follow at 1:00 PM at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to The Nature Center at Snake Lake, 1919 S. Tyler, Tacoma, WA.
