Harry L. Turner's Obituary
Harry L. Turner, 84, of DuPont, died after a protracted series of strokes on July 29, 2013. Born in Keokee, Virginia to the large coal mining family of Claude and Thelma Turner. After a few years in the mines, Harry enlisted in the US Army proudly serving his country for over 23 years. In 1952 Harry married Bernice L. Dunne, a Department of Defense Secretary and the love of his life, while stationed at Camp Yokohama, Japan.
The military life took Harry and family from sea to shining sea over the course of his Army career, always ready to serve and experience something new. In addition to service during the Korean Conflict, Harry served two tours of duty in Viet Nam, receiving many commendations including the Bronze Star and the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service.
Harry sadly leaves behind three loving daughters, Jacqueline, Nancy and Mary Dee, in addition to sons-in-law Ross, Chris and Bill and grandchildren Katie, Matthew, Gabe, Colin and Brian. Harry was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, parents, his brother Bobby and sisters Doris, Freda and Margaret.
Burial is schedule for August 2nd at Tahoma National Cemetery.
