Harris Arthur Zacharias' Obituary
Harris Arthur Zacharias died at the age of 87 on 11/9/08. Zac was born in a tent on his grandfather Adolph's farm in Wisconsin. He was the eldest of 8 children born to Arthur and Agnes Zacharias. As a youth he joined the C.C.C. until his enlistment in the army during WWII where he attained the rank of Captain. He later joined the Air Force and served in the service of his country until his retirement in 1967 with the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He retired a final time from Puget Sound Bank in 1986.Zac exemplified duty, honor and integrity. A man who was always willing to lend a helping hand or a size #10 to the backside depending on the need. He could be rough around tile edges, but a man with a good and true heart. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife of 58 years, Betty Liz' Olson in 2000.Survivors include siblings Madonna, Carol, Sherman and Jon; children Laurie (Bob), Brian, Craig, Denise (Larry) and Maureen; grandchildren Sean (Alyssa), Michelle (Lloyd), Jesse, Janelle, Ryan, Preston, Hillary (Jack), Anthony, Elizabeth and Amanda; great-grandchildren Kimberly, Christian, Cape, Kopelan, Kayli, Caleb, Cameron, Ryan, Jr., Johnny, Baylee and Brooke. Hopefully all will grow up hearing stories of their ancestor by the name of Zacharias and that those stories will bring a smile and a desire for them to follow a personal code that would have made him proud. They can rest assured that he did the family proud.A thanks to Nancy Johnson for caring. A special "later" to long-time neighbor and friend, John Bishop.Zac, you were definitely one of the "good guys". We who knew, understood and respected you will raise a glass and offer a final salute for a job well done. Happy trails to you, Dad, you remained true to your code. The band will once again be playing The Tennessee Waltz' for you and your Liz. Happy trails to you Mr. Zacharias and a fond farewell. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made in Zac's behalf to the Franciscan Hospice.Auf wiedersehen
