Harriet Margaret Davis' Obituary
Margaret and her younger brother Bill were born and raised to Milford and Vella Rees at their Evergreen family farm in Rees Station, Franklin, Illinois. In December 1941, at the breakout of WWII Margaret was married to Eddy (Don) Davis. They would have a remarkable marriage for the next 63 years. Eddy was a pilot for the U.S. Air Force and together their service to their country took them around the world until their last assignment brought them to Tacoma, WA. where they settled in 1961. Following their military role, Margaret used her experience, administrative skills, and pleasing personality to assist her husband in the achievement of founding the Tacoma based Flex-a-lite Corporation. Of even greater achievement was the raising, with much deserved pride, of their son Don and daughter Linda. Throughout the years, these two children gave many gifts to Margaret including three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Don gave her grandson Scott and daughter-in-law Brenda. Daughter Linda, along with son-in-law Rainer Willingham, gave her grandson Eddy and granddaughter Lisa. Then Eddy Willingham along with his wife Sherelle gave her great-grandsons Jentzen and Jaerden; while granddaughter Lisa with her husband Craig Chissus gave her great-grandchildren Austin and Mikala. So big hearted was Margaret - "Grandma Big" as her great-grandchildren affectionately called her that she pampered all with homemade cookies, big hugs and generous gifts at every holiday, birthday and other special occasions. It is also rumored she gained much through winnings at the Bridge tables often by distracting her opponents with funny stories. She loved sharing antidotes with her friends, and her telephone would become a center for ongoing joke exchanges. We now celebrate the life of our Margaret. The life, which brought much joy to those acquainted and so much love for those related. Today, friends and family question how to properly celebrate, especially with current periods of such over overpowering grief? Margaret would say, "Just let go, let God ".PS. So, when we annually celebrate the birth of our nation on the fourth of July, let's likewise celebrate the same date as the birth of our Margaret and JUST BE HAPPY.A private family graveside will be held on Saturday, November 13 at the Mountain View Funeral Home, followed by a 3:00 P.M. memorial celebration at Oakbrook Golf & Country Club, 8102 Zircon Dr. SW, Tacoma WA.
