I had the privilege of working at the Tacoma Public School Central Office in Pupil Personnel Services for eight and a half years in the 70's. During that time I had many lunches, meetings and informal get-togethers with Harold. They were always enjoyable and informative. During his later years, somehow, I ended up in a newsgroup from him which included many light hearted e-mails. His warm sense of humor, curious intellect and respectful manner are in my memories. When I first saw the name Hal Snodgrass it was on the Lincoln High School Alumni Reunion website in 2007. I first 'met' Hal via a phone call. Subsequently, Hal and I met in person at his home, where he invited me to share his stories about Tacoma history. After that I called him a friend. I returned a few times to hear more of his stories and he loaned me a photo to include in the book I was writing. I loved getting his emails about Tacoma history and his contribution to the "South Tacoma" book lives on forever on page 59. Having Hal as a friend for even a short time enriched my life.

My condolence goes out to his family.

Dear Carol, I only really knew Hal from my Mom and Dad (Roy and Ruth McAlister). My mom before she passed used to send me emails that Hal would send her and I knew he brought her great Joy. My Dad has continued the tradition. Hal will be missed by all of the people he has touched in one way or another. God Bless##imported-begin##Carol Keeler##imported-end##

My thoughts are with you as you cope with your loss of Harold.
He was a most unique man and I enjoyed working with him in the Publications Department of the Tacoma School District.

We also worked together on the school levy campaigns and I admired his skill and dedication to the cause.

His humor was often off-beat and it would take a while for me to "get it" but then we both would have a good laugh.

May you be comforted by happy memories and times together.

I was so blessed to have had this man and his wife come into my life. I met Hal before he and Carol Ann married and we became dear friends. After they married we were like the three musketeers. I refer to him and Carol Ann as my special earth angels as they helped me through some really rough times. Especially when I lost my son. Hal was the big brother I never had, a mentor, my editor and most of all a very special and dear friend. He always referred to Carol Ann and I as his girls. I moved to California in June, but am thankful I was able to visit shortly before he passed and say my goodbyes. If you had the honor of knowing this man you were blessed. I will miss his emails, discussing life with him and going to brunch on special occasions at the Lobster Shop. He will forever have a special place in my heart.
