Harold R Feaster's Obituary
Harold Feaster took his last breath on the morning of February 25. His struggle with COPD was over at 91 years old. He was a fighter. He survived coronavirus in January.
He was born August 28, 1929 in Benton County, Missouri to Evelyn Allen and Kent Feaster. The family migrated to Washington via California leaving Lowery City in 1936 in a Model T Ford. In 1942, the last leg of the journey was in a car and pick up truck to Anderson Island. Harold graduated from Clover Park High School in 1947 despite the daily transportation challenge that included the ferry, a city bus and a school bus both ways.
Harold retired from the National Guard as Chief Warrant Officer 4. The highlight of his career was being a “Plank Owner” of the USA VSomervell, bringing the brand new freight ship from Mississippi through the Panama Canal to Tacoma for it’s first assignment.
Harold knew people all across the state and country because of his time in the National Guard and being a member of the Masonic Lodge for 70 years. He was the 3rd Master of Lakewood Lodge and the youngest Master in the state in 1964.
He was very proud to donate his 1927 Model T Ford to the Clover Park Vocational School. It was a dream to see it transformed from boxes of parts to a beautifully restored automobile. He got to drive it and ride in it the Steilacoom 4th of July parade.
He lived life very large with a philosophy of “things to do, places to go and people to meet”. He loved fishing in Puget Sound, American Lake and Westport, “hunting” not so successfully, but most of all doing things with his family. Besides being the best father in the world to his own family, he served as surrogate father to many other people.
He is survived by his wife Marion, daughters Linda and Sherri (Mario), grandchildren Marcus (Raquel) and Jamie (Cory) and a great grandson Casen. His great grand daughter, Madison, will be born later in March and will miss meeting him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Mountain View Cemetery once his marker is placed. We all have stories to share about Harold. Please take a moment to share your remembrances and stories with the family on the guest book page.
