To the family of Harold Anderson: We have never met, but I am the daughter of two of the people your father was so generous and giving to. My dad worked with Harold in the ILWU. When my parents became shut-ins, Harold was unwavering in his visits to their home, always bringing something to share. Later, my parents had to move to nursing care in two different facilities, and Harold visited them both, still bringing treats. Those visits were always mentioned by my parents, and meant so much to them, and to me as well.
Some years ago, my dad told Harold to go through and choose as many of his old .78 records as he wanted to take home, so if you have any of those around, feel free to blame Dad. I think he wanted to pay Harold back a little for having done so much for them.
I am so sorry for your loss. He was a gem.
