Gwendola Elaine Erskine's Obituary
Gwendola Elaine Erskine was born October 13, 1912, in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Carrie Bushnell Canfield and Clarence U. Canfield. She graduated from Hemingford High School in Hemingford, Nebraska, and then attended Chadron College. For many years she was Chief Operator of the Hemingford Co-op. Telephone before moving to Lakewood, WA. In 1945, she married Neal W. Erskine whom preceded her in death August 1974. She was employed for several years by the Clover Park School District in the school lunch program. In addition, she and her husband were also custodians at the Lake City Community Church. She was active in the church, teaching Sunday School, Chairman of the Deaconess Committee, and had many other responsibilities. Friends and family always felt the love of God reflected in her heart.She is survived by their daughter, Jill Gallion, and two grandchildren, Neal and Jessica Gallion, as well as numerous family and friends.Visitation will be from 5 P.M. until 9 P.M., Friday, August 29, 2003 and from 9 A.M. until 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 30, 2003 at Mt. View Funeral Home.Graveside services will be at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 30, 2003 at Mt. View Memorial Park. A memorial service will follow at 2 P.M. at Lake City Community Church.Memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Lake City Community Church for the Russian Stocking Project, SOAR International, 8810 Lawndale Ave. SW, Lakewood, WA 98498.
