Gust Lovstrom
Gust Lovstrom, 98 years of age, died Friday, March 20, 2009. He was born September 10, 1910 in Hennan, Sweden, the son of Olaf and Carolena Lovstrom. He came to the U.S. in 1929, spending time in Minnesota and North Dakota and eventually settled in Tacoma where he worked in logging, construction of the Mud Mountain Dam, and later retired from Pioneer Sand and Gravel. He was a longtime member of the Swedish Order of Valhalla. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Esther (Anderson), sons Larry and Jim (wife Marsha), grandsons Michael and Glen (wife Kim), and great-grandchildren Jamie and Dylan. A memorial gathering to celebrate the life of Gust will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2009 starting at 1:00 p.m. at the Lovstrom's home in University Place.
