Gretchen M. Davis' Obituary
Gretchen M. Davis 1908 B 2009 My dearest Aunt Gretchen died peacefully in her home on March 13, 2009. She was 100 1/2 years old and in amazing mental health. Gretchen was born September 10, 1908 in Zanesville, OH and lived in Norwich, OH. She attended Muskingum College and the University of Washington, taught in the Tacoma School District, and was a member of Tacoma Elks Club. Married to John R. Davis in 1940, they resided at Browns Point. A devoted daughter, loving and loyal wife, a darling aunt and a gifted elementary school teacher, Gretchen leaves a living legacy in all who knew her. She was generous, kind and always had a smile and a story. A resident of Tahoma Terrace, she was an active board member until her death. She funded beautiful garden space which brought joy to all who viewed it. At Gretchen's request there will be no service. Memorials to her life may be given to charities that she supported. We deeply thank Hospice and Helen's Place for helping Gretchen live in her last months.
