Grace Evelyn Winfrey's Obituary
Grace E. Winfrey
Grace was born August 28, 1929 to the large and loving family of John and Annie Bell (Warren) Williams. She left this life on July 28, 2009 at home surrounded by the love of her children. Her early life was spent in the Texas area, where she was educated, worked, and her sons Elvin and Glynn were born. She spent many summers visiting her sisters and brothers and teaching her children the importance of love and being a close-knit family. These teachings continued when as an Army bride her family moved to Tacoma and was completed by the birth of her daughter, Phyllis, and the arrival of her "daughters by choice" Bettye and Margret, and one stepson, Cecil McKay, Jr. She worked hard in her church and spent many an hour visiting and cooking for those who could not do it for themselves, showing them the love and kindness that truly was in her spirt. Surviving relatives include two sons, Elvin Walker Jr. of Roy, Washington, Glynn (Sandy) Walker of Tacoma, one daughter, Phyllis McKay Latham, of Tacoma, two sisters, Mae City of Austin, Texas and Viola (Calvin) Hampton of Covington, Washington, one brother, Willie Williams, of Houston, Texas, 13 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins. Viewing will be August 5, 2009, 2-9pm at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd., Lakewood, Washington. Funeral services will be the following day, August 6, 2009, 11:00 am, at Tacoma Central 7th Day Adventist Church, 1301 S. Baltimore, Tacoma, Washington.
