Grace M Cady's Obituary
Grace M. Cady is survived by her daughter Sherri Wolf of Portland, OR and her two grandsons Jim Christiansen of Tacoma and Mike Newton of Portland. Also surviving are their wives Jackie and Laura, respectively. She was predeceased by her first husband Russell Raynard Osterberg and her second husband James Edward Cady, as well as by her daughter Virginia Lee Newton.
Grace retired from Tacoma General Hospital where she worked as a Central Processing and Distribution Technician for many years and made numerous close friends. She loved her occupation and all the wonderful people she worked beside.
Her love of animals was enormous and she showed it by caring for her pets Tuffy, Tuffy2, Puffers, Shazam, Oofda, Dolly, Jasmine and Porkey. She treated them with respect and admiration and got the same from each of them.
Grace loved her garden, and was known for her green thumb. She was a also a long time member of the Red Hats Society.
Grace's sense of, humor was with her until the end and she commented in her hospital room how much fun it was to laugh. And she had a great laugh!
Traveling was something she enjoyed whether it was camping, cruising or a bus trip to Leavenworth. She always got her ice cream when the bus trip was over and by the end, she had the entire group eating ice cream even when it was 30 degrees below. Grace and Arlene were the terror of Las Vegas and she was the mother of all campers. She made all of us feel safe when we were out in the woods.
She was born, baptized and will always and forever be Baptist.
“Grace's memories live in a peaceful place in our heart”
“Those we love don't go away,
they walk beside us every day.
Unseen, unheard,
but always near,
still loved, still missed
and very dear.”
