Goldalyn Marie Hill's Obituary
Goldalyn (Lynne) Marie Hill—our beloved sister, aunt, and friend—passed from this world
into the arms of Jesus on the evening of November 27, 2025, with family and friends by her side. Her entrance into heaven relieved the pain of her fierce battle with metastatic breast cancer during the last year of her life.
Lynne was born in Tacoma, Washington, on April 15, 1963. After moving with her family to Sunnyvale, California, during her pre-teen years, Lynne returned to the Tacoma area, graduating from Henry Foss High School in 1981. She was previously married to Jon Clowers and went on to work with him in the auto body industry. No one could prep a car for painting like Lynne!
She also channeled her boundless energy and resourcefulness into landscaping, yardwork, cooking and completing projects for others. This same ingenuity and desire to help others inspired Lynne to become a personal care assistant during the last fifteen years of her life. When her brother-in-law was diagnosed with a neurological disease, Lynne went to work for him as a caregiver and supported his family as a housekeeper, too. She pursued additional training and was hired as an in-home care provider for clients in University Place and Tacoma.
Lynne brought enthusiasm and a love for people to the lives of those she served. And she would, in turn, say her clients gave her a sense of purpose and fulfillment. She believed she was the one blessed to be working with them.
Everyone who knew Lynne would share that her love for cars was only surpassed by her zeal for the Pittsburgh Steelers, camp stoves, and her dog, “Mickey.” Her pup was a constant companion during urban camping trips and long walks through Wright Park and on Ruston Way. Lynne’s creative sense of humor shone through her ongoing narrative of life from Mickey’s perspective, which kept us all entertained!
Lynne leaves behind her sister, Marilee Hill-Anderson, and nephew, Joel R.H. Anderson, as well as friends who were her chosen family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gloria Dumas, and by Paul Dumas and Robert Hill, both of whom were loving fathers to her.
On behalf of Lynne, her family wishes to thank the many people who offered her support, love, and care—particularly over the last six months: the staff at St. Joseph Medical Center’s Oncology unit; Franciscan Hospice House in University Place; and Damaris, Grace and Shirley at 2 God’s Glory adult family home. We also thank Lynne’s friends Amanda Henry, Jill Geyen, Rick and Blake Duarte, and John Campbell for always sharing with Lynne that she made such a positive impact on the world. Your visits brought her a great sense of peace.
A celebration of Lynne’s life will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Freedom River Outreach (meeting at Living Grace Church), 106 S. 28th St., Tacoma, WA 98402. A light lunch will be served at 2:30 pm for both the congregation and those attending the celebration service.
In lieu of flowers, Lynne’s family requests donations to Freedom River Outreach and their work to support people experiencing homelessness. (https://freedomriver.net)
