Gladys Walton's Obituary
Gladys Walton, 88, of Lakewood, WA, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013. Gladys graduated with a diploma in Nursing from the Deaconess Hospital in Wenatchee, WA. She married her husband Frank in 1947 and after a mobile military life settled in Lakewood in 1966.
She was a wonderful nurse, and said that her favorite job was teaching practical nursing. She taught right up to the end; teaching her occupational therapist how to fan-fold the blanket on her bed. She was a sassy lady who helped spread joy to the world with her time and gifts. She knitted baby hats for the new born nursery and made scrub caps for the docs at Madigan. Some of those caps are still used today. She was a loyal friend and active parishioner who would beat the pastor to the church on Sundays and lead an active social life. And she was a wonderful Mother and Grandma; very loving and so proud of her family that will miss her dearly.
She is survived by two children, Christine (Philip) Yavorsky of O’Fallon, IL, and Jim (DawnLee) Walton of Honolulu, HI; and three grandchildren, Debbie (Kevin) Joseph, Susie (John) Lucas and Cathy Yavorsky; and two step-grandchildren, Ashley (David) Cox and Michael DeYoung.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at Christ Lutheran Church in Lakewood, WA.
Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home.
