Gladys Pauline Cowan's Obituary
Daughter of Paul and Guri Pladsen was born in Minot ND. She attended Bell School #3, worked on the family farm and at Trinity Medical Center. She moved to Tacoma, WA in 1944 with her good friend, Edna Lester. She was employed by the Boeing Aircraft Co. and Nelson Grocery, both located in South Tacoma.Gladys married John S. Cowan on August 26, 1948, and they shared 28 years before his passing in 1975. They had two sons, John P. and James M.She worked as a Care Giver at Hillhaven Nursing Home and then at Western State Hospital until her retirement.Gladys loved her friends, Country Music, helping others and spoiling her two grandchildren.She is preceded in death by her husband "Jack", stepdaughter Beverly Schulte of Milton; brothers Severin, Palmer and Paul; and sisters Thelma and Mabel of Minot.Gladys is survived by her two sons, John P. "Jay" Cowan of Lakewood, WA and James M. Cowan, daughter-in-law Vickie, granddaughter Denette, and grandson Jack of Tacoma; and her sister Ida Smith (Harry) of Minot, ND.
