Gladys Hale Pond's Obituary
Gladys Albertina Hale Pond returned home to her Father in Heaven on Saturday July 10th 2010. She was 83 years young and suffered the last 6 years from Alzheimer's. Gladys was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, the first born child of William Henry Hale and Lillie Louise Hoffman on January 13, 1927. Gladys and her family immigrated to the United States. While a student at the University of Oregon she met her eternal companion, her husband J, Martin Pond Jr. while in line at registration. They were married in August 1949 after she graduated and Mart received his MBA from NYU Gladys and Mart raised their 3 children in NY, Chicago, Atlanta and NY again. Gladys was raised in the Baptist faith but joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and the family was sealed in the Logan, Ut temple in August 1959. After losing her husband of 36 years to pancreatic cancer Gladys moved back to the Northwest to be close to family. Gladys is survived by her children daughters Alexis Pond Nickel, Alexis husband Dr Gary Nickel, and Julianne Pond all of University Place WA ,and her son Dr William Henry Pond, and Hank's wife Rexanne of Murray, UT, 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Saturday July 17th at 11am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints 4219 Breckonridge Dr. W. University Place, WA 98467. Interment at Sunset Hills Memorial Park Portland, OR.
