Gladys Filocomo's Obituary
Gladys FilocomoGladys Winifred (Gibson) Filocomo age 85 went home to be with the Lord and her husband on November 7, 2006. Born October 1, 1921 in Wellington Place, Northern Ireland. Gladys was one of thirteen children born to a hard working family. Times were hard so Gladys moved away from home at the age of thirteen to live in London and work as a nanny. It was wartime when she met a young Italian American GI named Frank Filocomo. She would spend the rest of her life as his wife. During this time they would raise two wonderful daughters Pat and Annamarie.Gladys was one of those people who had a warm smile and a giving soul. To her no one was a stranger, just another person she hadnÂ't gotten to know. When Frank and Gladys moved to Tacoma she took ajob at The University of Puget Sound. Her love for the students was obvious by the pride she took in her work. She reflected often about her days as a Sorority housemother and the students she cared for.She attended Life Center Assembly of God Church with her husband Frank for over forty years. Gladys volunteered her time often, whether it was working at a bake-sale or the ChurchÂ's Thrift Store, Gladys always had a special place in her heart for her church. Her family was everything to her and there was no more pleasure for her then cooking a big Sunday dinner. She loved to baby sit so she could spoil her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always had your favorite cookies on hand. She never asked for anything in return. We will miss her English accent, generosity, and the love she gave to all of her family. You and Dad together again for eternity.Gladys is survived by her daughters Pat Rogers and Annamarie Ausnes; grandchildren David and Mark Stephens, and Scott and Amy Ausnes; great grandchildren David Jr., Cassandra, Kirstin, Christopher Stephens and Ava Ausnes. In Lieu of f1owers, contributions may be made to Life Christian Academy 1717 5. Union Tacoma, WA. 98405.A memorial service will be held to celebrate the lives of Frank and Gladys Filocomo at the Life Christian Assembly of God Church at 1:00pm Thursday, Nov. 9th, 2006.
