Gladys A. Aldrich
August 10, 1917 ~ July 22, 2013
Gladys was born in North Dakota to Chester and Hattie Fritz and grew up during the depression years with brothers Carl and Morris and sister Mae in Chafee, ND and really did walk to the one room schoolhouse in snow storms. During the early 1940's, she and her brother Morris ventured to Tacoma where she contributed to the World War II war effort working in the Tacoma shipyards. There Gladys met Paul Aldrich and they were married in 1945. They had 4 daughters and raised them In the Summit area, where she lived until the mid 1990's.
She worked for several years as an activities director for several nursing homes and continued volunteer work at the Puyallup Senior Center, Good Samaritan Hospital and the Salvation Army Senior Center well in to her late 80's.
Gladys was an enthusiastic traveler enjoying trips to see family in North Dakota and also many pleasure trips to southern California, Branson, Mo, Alaska, Hawaii and the east coast. Gladys has taken her final trip armed with the love of family, friends and wonderful caregivers at Merrill Gardens and MultiCare Hospice.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul, daughter Debbie and brothers Carl and Morris. Gladys is survived by daughters, Jan, Peggy and Pam; sister Mae; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
A private family graveside will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home and Memorial Park. Memorial contributions can be sent to the Puyallup Salvation Army Senior Center and/or City of Puyallup Senior Center.
