Gisela A Rasmussen's Obituary
Gisela Rasmussen Johnson June 13, 1925- January 12, 2019
She was born in Darmstadt, Germany. Gisela like most Germans of her generation had a very difficult life. One day during this terrible war which most German people hated, she found her birth house in ruins and her young brother killed. But this hardship did not turn into hate against Americans as after the war she married an American service man in 1949 and immigrated to America rallying with another 16 war brides to bring up the Hermann's Lodge in Tacoma. Her greatest contribution for the German community was Gisela's Original German Hour radio program. We owe her so much because for 50 years she filled our hearts with wonderful German music. She was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. Gisela loved to travel worldwide and organized travel tours all over Europe as well as concerts with German entertainers in our region. She loved to dance and always was upbeat, bringing joy to others. Gisela now you are in a better place and free of suffering and you will never be forgotten. There will be a celebration of her life February 1st, 11:00am at Mountain View Funeral Home 4100 Steilacoom Blvd SW Tacoma, WA in the Garden Chapel. There will be a reception in the Oak room after the Garden Chapel service. Another Celebration of Life will be held March 3, 1:00pm at the German House 613 9th Ave Seattle, WA.
