Gilbert Whitely's Obituary
Gilbert Whitely Born October 22, 1919 Has gone to be with the Lord and his dearly beloved wife Irene E. Whitely of 49 years on February 16, 2008. Gilbert leaves behind sons Jess Moore, Miles Moore, and daughter Sandra Katschke. Gilbert also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, as well as a multitude of friends. Mr. Whitely, a combat veteran of the second world war, having served in the New Guinea campaign and the liberation of the Philippine Islands, his actions in those campaigns earned him the CIB, two bronze stars, and numerous other campaign ribbons while serving with the 32nd infantry division. He will be loved and remembered always. Viewing will be held Wednesday the 20th from 12pm-9pm. Services will be held Thursday the 21st at 1pm in the Valley Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home. Full military honors will follow at graveside at Mountain View Memorial Park, 4100 Steilacoom BLVD SW, Lakewood, Wa Reception to follow at the VFW post 969 beginning after 3pm, 3510 Mckinley Ave., Tacoma, Wa
