Gilbert L. Holland's Obituary
Gil was born Feb. 12, 1918 in Tacoma, WA to Peter and Lina Holland and passed away Dec. 24, 2010 in Vancouver, WA. He was predeceased in death by his beloved wife, Margaret E. Holland, brother- and sister-in-law Martin and Lorraine Holland; surviving are daughter Maradee (John) Potter, bother Leonard (Joyce) Holland and numerous nieces and nephews. Gil was a World War II Veteran with the 13th Army Air Force Division, serving 33 months in the South Pacific. After 27 years with the City of Tacoma he retired as right-of-way negotiator. He was a multitalented man, having fished commercially for 15 years from Alaska to San Diego, as well as having built two homes from scratch. After retirement, he enjoyed being -Å"Mr. Fix-It- around his Browns Point neighborhood. He was a lifetime member of the Lutheran Church.
Viewing 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 29 at Mountain View, Lakewood with services Dec. 30, 11 a.m. in the Mountain View Valley Chapel. Mountain View in charge of arrangements. Remembrances are suggested to the Tacoma Lutheran Home or First Lutheran Church of Tacoma Building Fund.
