Gertrude Quinton Dawson's Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother peacefully passed away, with her son by her side, in Lakewood, WA on November 21st. She has gone to be with the Lord and her parents, Walter and Edith Quinton. Mother was our guiding light in love and graciousness. Her family was the central force in her life which began in Cave Springs, Arkansas on March 15, l922. They migrated west to Weiser, Idaho where she graduated with honors from high school.Gertrude worked in civil service at Fort Lewis, Washington and Tooele, Utah where she retired in 1972. She resided in Gig harbor, until recently moving to Tacoma. She and her husband enjoyed many retirement trips to Mexico and Alaska. Of special enjoyment for Mother were salmon fishing, beachcombing, crossword puzzles, cooking, baking, the Mariners and all family activities.Survivors include her husband of 63 years, John V. Dawson of Tacoma; sister, Ruth McElravy of Tacoma; daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Tom Doyle of Gig Harbor, WA and Yuma, AZ; son and daughter-in-law, James and Paula Dawson of Albuquerque, NM; grandchildren, Mark Winans of Fairbanks, AK, Michelle and Brando Skanes of Galloway, NJ, Laura and Kelly Stinson of Cannonsburg, PA, Jill Berry, Jamee Dawson, Lindsay Dawson of Tri-Cities WA; great-grand-children, Cassandra, Christopher, Taylor, Jacob, James, Lexie, Megan and Sarah.
