Gertrude Powell Olsen's Obituary
Born November 27, 1908 in Tacoma, WA, Gertrude, daughter of Conrad and Lydia Waech, passed away April 20, 2006 at the age of 97. She was a resident of Narrows Glen Retirement Home. After her graduation from Lincoln High School, Class of 1926, she attended WSU. Memberships included Mason United Methodist Church, PEO, Kappa Delta Sorority, past member of Evergreen Garden Club and service on the Foundation Board of South Park Community Center. Gertrude enjoyed music, skiing, swimming, gardening, entertaining, traveling, dancing, and hiking in Mt. Rainier National Park. She was fondly known for her uplifting laugh and joyful spirit; and her positive and courageous attitude. She is survived by sons Don Powell of Portland and Jim Powell (Susan) Of Bellevue, and grandchildren Susan Marie Powell and John Baker Powell of Seattle. A Memorial Service will be held 10:00am, Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Mason United Methodist Church, 2710 North Madison in Tacoma. Remembrances may be made to Mason United Methodist Church, Multicare Hospice of Tacoma, or a favorite charity. Arrangements by Mountain View Funeral Home. 584-0252.
