Gerold Lars Erkers' Obituary
Gerold Lars Erkers born April 2, 1941 in Tacoma, WA to Mildred and Lars Erkers, first of eight children. Jerry spent his childhood in South Tacoma, attending Horace Mann Elementary, Gray Jr. High and Lincoln High School. He attended Bates Vocational School before joining the Navy with his brother Don in 1960. He spent time on the USS Coral Sea, was stationed on Whidbey Island, on Kodak, Alaska and traveled to the east coast of the US. Also, spent time in Hawaii, the Philippines and Japan. Jerry married Charleen LaRue in 1965, then had two children, Mark(Carly) and Staci(Andy) and grandchildren MJ, Ally, Alec, Tanner and Maylei. He worked for NW Painters and had his own painting company (CJ Painting) for 20 years before retiring. He liked to play golf, fish, play cribbage and going to the casino. Most of all he loved his family. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Mildred and Lars, sisters Ruth and Linda, and bothers Wayne and Edwin.
