Geri Smith's Obituary
Geri Smith lived a life rooted in kindness, quiet strength, and love for her family and community. Born in Tacoma, Washington, she grew up in Lakewood and graduated from Clover Park High School. She was the youngest of three sisters, all of whom, along with her brother-in-law, preceded her in death.
Geri was married to Boyd Smith for 40 years. Together, they traveled the country in their motor home, spending treasured time in Nehalem, Oregon, and enjoying sunny days in Sun Lakes, Arizona. She worked as a clerk and switchboard operator for the Bell Telephone Company and was known for her determination and down-to-earth nature.
She had a creative spirit—sewing quilts and clothes, journaling daily, and cooking meals that brought people together. Their fishing trips, especially by the Nehalem River, were peaceful moments she cherished.
Geri was preceded in death by her husband Boyd, her stepdaughter Kay Sapp, and her stepson Dick Smith. She is survived by her stepdaughter Linda Walsh, two grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In her younger years, Geri was lively and fun-loving. Later in life, she enjoyed a quieter pace, spending time with close friends and family at Franke Tobey Jones. She will be remembered for her thoughtful gifts, gentle presence, and the love she shared with everyone around her.
May she rest in eternal peace.
