Geraldine L. Holm's Obituary
Geraldine Louise Holm
Geraldine Louise Tuller (Holm) was born in Leroy, Kansas on August 12, 1924 and passed away in Tacoma with family by her bedside on October 31, 2016.
Geraldine’s parents, Edith and Robert Tuller, moved the family of five children to Parkland when she was about twelve years old. After graduating from Lincoln High School, she met her husband, Gustave Holm and they were married in July of 1942.
Mom was primarily a homemaker and she enjoyed cooking and baking as well as knitting and crocheting. She was also an avid reader, often visiting the library and coming home with an armful of books. She read the newspaper daily and enjoyed keeping up on current events.
She was well known for her green thumb and loved her flower gardens and indoor plants. Gerri loved her patio and potted plants and spent many hours tending to and enjoying her plants.
Most of all she loved her family which included children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was especially thrilled when a new baby entered the family and wasted no time in getting out the knitting needles and yarn.
Geraldine was amazingly strong and resilient and found a way to overcome the most trying of circumstances throughout her lifetime. She imparted a richness of spirit and wise advice as she nurtured her family throughout the years.
Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Gustave Holm, great-grandson Julian Baker, and nephew Allan Tuller.
She is survived by her son Michael Holm of Port Townsend and daughter Juliann Rhodes of Tacoma; grandson Brandon Rhodes (Kristin), granddaughters Danielle Holm, Deidra Fernandez, Jessica Holm; great-grandchildren Faith Rhodes, Kyle Rhodes, Michael Downing, Zachary Downing, Dorian Chennault and many nieces and nephews.
The Family wishes to thank the Tacoma Lutheran Home and Retirement Community for being mom’s home for over fourteen years and the care she received recently.
Per her request, family graveside services will be held at 1:30 November 9, 2016 at Mountain View Funeral Home.
