Gerald Wilford Kent's Obituary
Gerald W. Kent, (Jerry) age 84, died of natural cause related to diabetes, at his home in Lakewood, Washington, July 25th. He was born November 22, 1919 and was a lifelong resident of Tacoma. An owner of Â"HarryÂ's PlaceÂ" Tavern, on McKinley Hill, a family business for 70 years, he will be sorely missed by his many patrons. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy and their children, Barbara Rasmussen and, her husband Chris; James Â"JimÂ" Kent and wife, Anita, and four grandchildren, Corey and Kelsey Rasmussen, Ben and Mandy Kent; and a nephew, David Kent and niece Joan Bell. Jerry was a remarkable athlete throughout and after high school in wrestling, tennis, table tennis, and basketball and won many honors. He graduated from Lincoln High School and attended UPS. He was a constant sports enthusiast. A WWII Navy veteran, he served from 1943 to 1945. He loved to hunt, fish, and golf with his Â"pards.Â" He touched the lives of many and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. At his request, private services will be held.
