Gerald Pagni's Obituary
Born in the early 1950s to first generation Swedish and Italian parents, Gerry was a beautiful boy who joined them and his older sister in post WWII life in Tacoma. He peacefully moved forward in February 2024 following a long illness.
Gerry attended east side schools, graduating from Mount Tahoma High School. Soon thereafter he joined the United States Navy, first at Naval Station Great Lakes, Chicago, then in Yokosuka, Japan and Manila, The Philippines. A joy in his life occurred while stationed in Japan, where he bought a beautiful new Yamaha road bike, which he then brought home with him on the ship. That bike remained a source of fun and pride for him for many years. After returning to civilian life, he worked for the City of Tacoma, from which he retired after many years of service.
He was a lifelong animal lover, and had several dogs and many cats, most adopted off the street as ferals needing food and a home. Throughout the years, he spent his free time with his hobbies, including working on old cars, listening to Led Zeppelin and Little Feat, visiting with friends and taking care of his pets.
Later in life Gerry was diagnosed with pre-frontal cortex dementia, possibly caused by a severe brain injury suffered when hit by a car at the age of five years. He outlived expectations, however, living much longer than forecast.
He is preceded in death by parents Mario and Ruth Pagni, sister Carleen, dogs Mac and Pal, and all other pets. He is survived by sister Linnaea; nephews Aaron and Brock; nieces Wendy, Corrie and Michaela, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
You are free, Gerry. Sending all the best wishes from those who love you. See you again.
