Nancy Hawkins
A truly blessed man that we all (both men and women) loved and admired. Strong, intelligent, handsome, well respected, determined, quick with a joke, and an incredible cribbage player. He played with us up until November 16, driving down to Olympia from Lakewood through all types of good and bad weather. This past year, he earned his bronze award by acquiring over 1,000 American Cribbage Congress Grass Roots points (it's kind of a big deal, but you would never know it if you asked him about it).
He spoke often about his life and we all felt very close as if we were there or it had just happened. His memory is what amazed us the most - people's names, places he and his wife lived and visited, the books his wife had acquired over the years, stories about his children, his old bosses - details of his life that anyone would be so lucky to hear as well as remember as he did.
The group that sometimes gathered at the Queen Mum's (Sue Wheaton's) home on Friday evenings to play different cribbage games (they made up) dubbed him The Friday Knight. We miss him so much. I cannot even imagine of how much his family misses him. Our love and prayers are with you Lyon clan.
