Gerald " Jerry " Waltier's Obituary
Gerald Anthony Waltier, 84 of Tacoma passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2015. Born to Eugene J. Waltier and Marion (Wakeman)Waltier, Jerry was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, co-worker, and friend. He attended Visitation Parish School & Bellarmine Prep. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and came back home to continue a 38 yr career at North Pacific Bank Note Company (United Graphics) in Tacoma & Seattle as a Lithographer. He was a shop steward and a lifetime Union member. He met the love of his life and proceeded to spend the next 60 years with her, side by side, in true wedded bliss. He coached youth sports in Tacoma and Seattle at the South End Boys Club and Holy Family Parish. He was a Referee for the WOA. Vito was a longstanding member of the Son’s of Italy Tacoma Lodge, where he honed his bocce skills and savored his Italian heritage. He was an avid gardener, builder, artist, mentor, sports enthusiast and the revered patriarch of the Gualtieri clan.
Jerry is survived by his wife Janice, his children Jodi (Frank), Scott, Dean (Heather), his granddaughter Sarah (Ken), his grandchildren Ethan, Olivia, Ezra, his sisters Barbara & Virginia, his brothers Dennis & John, his nieces, nephews, cousins, in laws and extended family. He will remain forever in our hearts.
The family is grateful to all of those who loved and cared for him.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Patrick’s Parish, Tacoma, WA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Bellarmine Prep.
