Gerald "Gerry" Alan Dunn's Obituary
Born on September 14th, 1960, in Corvallis, Oregon, Gerald grew up embracing life's adventures. After graduating from Clover Park High School in 1978, he embarked on a journey hitchhiking across the country. Along the way, he cultivated a deep appreciation
for the outdoors and collected keys from every hotel he stayed in, including places like Belgium, Germany , Las Vegas , all of the PNW and many more places. Later in life he continued enjoying life on the road, especially with his Volkswagen bus in the 70’s, his Thunderbird and his Subaru. He was an avid car enthusiast and member of many car clubs & collector of magazines .
Generosity and resilience were the cornerstones of Gerald's life. His hardworking spirit and supportive nature touched the hearts of everyone around him.
As a single father who would do anything for his children, Gerald's greatest joy was his family. He poured his love and dedication into raising his daughter, Nicole Robertson, and his son, Jack Dunn. His generous heart and responsible guidance fostered a home
filled with warmth and kindness.
His children remarked that his good-natured heart went beyond just his family and that he would always go out of his way to be outgoing and make as many friends as he could along the way (even making babies in line at the grocery store smile)
Gerald's passion for helping others led him to begin his role as a Donation Ambassador at Habitat for Humanity. His commitment to giving back was a testament to his enduring compassion. Setting up fundraisers and acquiring relationships with chain retail stores for regular donations .
An enthusiast of cooking and travel, Gerald shared his love for life's simple pleasures with those around him. He was the go-to person for a good meal, handyman, and a good conversation. Among his many hobbies, he enjoyed traveling, history, art, anime all of the Seattle Sports teams (Go Sonics!), and a great vintage find at thrift shops and antique malls. As a lover of food, he especially enjoyed a unique soup at the Russian market and even had a local lumpia place name a lumpia after him the "Big G’s Philly cheese".
Gerald will be dearly missed by his children, Nicole and Jack; his siblings, Dennis, Sue, Mike, Kathy, and Kristi; and his parents James and Maria; and all whose lives he touched with his gentle compassion. His legacy of kindness continues to inspire us.
