George Walter Skea's Obituary
Born on September 7, 1924 in Perth Amboy, NJ, and passed away on April 1, 2010 in Tacoma, WA. George enlisted in the Navy at age 18 and served in World War II and the Korean Conflict as a Chief Quartermaster. At 21 he married Jane Schramm, to whom he remained married for 64 years until his death. After his military service, he worked as a plumber for the Tacoma School District until his retirement in 1987. George was an avid runner and hiker. He climbed to the top of Mt. St. Helens 7 times and Mt. Rainier twice. He also ran the Sound to Narrows race more than 30 times. He was a Past Master of the Joseph Warren Masonic Lodge in 1959. He was made a 33rd Degree Mason in 1971, and was actively involved in the Scottish Rite for many years. George's friendly spirit was loved by all who came in contact with him. He will truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by father Horatio, mother Bertha, and sister Marie. He is survived by his wife Jane, brother Herbert (Harriett), son Marc (Sandy), daughter Jill, and 2 grandchildren, Kristopher and Zaraya (Jeff). Graveside services will be held on April 6th, 2010, 9:30am, at Mountain View Funeral Home, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood, WA 98499.
