George Richard Lane's Obituary
George was born July 26, 1917 to Howard and Marie Lane in Richmond, Indiana. He attended Norton High School in Richmond, and the American International College while in the Air Force. He began his career as a staff newspaper reporter for Palladium-Item in Richmond, covering the county government and circuit courthouse. His military career began with the onset of WW II , when he joined the US Army Air Corps, serving in North Africa and Europe. Following discharge from the Army, he joined the Globe-News in Amarillo, Texas, until he re-enlisted in the Air Force in 1951. He received numerous awards for his service to the country. After retirement George moved his family to the PNW in 1966, where he joined the Civil Service at Fort Lewis. George was a gentle and kind man, a loving husband and beloved father. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Simone, his two sons Kim and Tim, and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on December 29, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. John Bosco Church, Lakewood.
