George Jacobsen's Obituary
George W. Jacobsen
George W. Jacobsen was born 11/24/1917 in Tacoma, WA, and passed away on 4/27/2012 after a brief illness. George grew up in Ruston, and graduated from Stadium High School in 1936. He married his childhood sweetheart, Virginia, in 1939, and celebrated 70 years of marriage before her death in 2010. George worked various jobs during his lifetime, retiring from North Pacific Plywood in 1983. Proud of his Norwegian heritage, he belonged to the Sons of Norway and the Normanna Male Chorus. It was his privilege to have sung with the chorus and he attended "Sangerfests" over 60 years. George enjoyed his family and friends, working in his yard, and traveling to California and Cannon Beach, Oregon. His other great passion was UW Huskies football. He and Virginia were die-hard supporters and held season tickets for many years. George will be missed by all who knew him, including his daughter Susan, sisters Angela Sivertson and Betty Petrich (Tony), grandsons Eric Jacobsen (Heather) and Jeff Fisher, great-grandchildren Annika and Beck Jacobsen, sister-in-law Gloria Northrup, and daughter-in-law Carol Turner. He will also be missed by his special friend and caregiver, Karen Worthy. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Roy and Jack, son Robert Jacobsen, and sister-in-law Grace Squire.
