George Edward Stowell's Obituary
George E. Stowell
4/3/1955 to 8/10/2009
George left us for heaven after 78 days in the ICU at UW Medical Center following a lung transplant, the result of Alpha 1 Anti-trypsin Deficiency. Though his body may have been weak, his wit, his charm and his heart were as strong as ever. George grew up in Olalla, Wash. before joining the Air Force and moving down to Texas. Soon enough, however, he was back up in the northwest where he fell in love with and married his former neighbor, Leslie Nelson. Over time, they had 2 daughters together and George went back to school for a degree in Computer Engineering. After graduating from UPS he got a job at Boeing, but more than that, he enjoyed camping with family and friends, bird watching and rafting down the Nisqually River. After he and Leslie divorced, George began traveling the world, seeing China and the Philippines as well as visiting and supporting his daughters at school. He later married Mercy Gachuma, whom he met in a coffee shop in Gig Harbor. They were best friends and constant companions until the moment he left this world. George will be missed by his wonderful wife Mercy, daughters, Natalie and Marilyn, stepdaughter Doreen, parents Ruth and Eric Johnson, uncle Ron Mills, sisters Tracy Vonhof-Mills, and Cynthia Volkmann, brother Paul Stowell, as well as nieces and nephews, Chris, Robert, Josiah, Julia and Ruth. A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sept. 5, 2009 at Grace Lutheran Church, 22975 24th Ave S. in Des Moines, WA.
